For true 1950's fluff and nonsense it's hard to beat "Meet Corliss Archer"

Recalling hours of my yout mispent parked before the idiot box.... there were shows like "Lassie" (now known as Jeff's Collie), "My Little Margie" with Gale Storm, "Love that Bob" with Bob Comings, "Topper" with Leo G. Caroll, and of course "Leave It To Beaver". We had game shows hosted by Art Linkletter, and Groucho Marx. We had Variety shows hosted by Ed Sullivan, Ted Mac, and Sid Cesear (sp?).

There were offerings for the more serious like "Peter Gunn", "Dragnet", "Highway Patrol", Sea Hunt", "Jet Jackson" known everywhere else in the country as "Captain Midnight", and westerns of every flavor.

In these shows everyone (almost) smoked cigarettes, worked at something for a living, spoke more correct English, and children never corrected adults. Fashon statements proclaimed self-respect, honorable attitudes

No one ever bled (much), swore, slept together nor peed.... but three generations (almost four generations) later they (the programs and their characters) are still loved - and among folks likly to be found here.... preferred.

Preferred absolutely! I'll add my vote for Meet Corliss Archer, and for gritty crime drama Dragnet and Gangbusters.
